Thursday 12 June 2009: noon: Come hear Dennis Wingo of the Lunar Orbiter Image Recovery Project (LOIRP) discuss their use of Mac OS X technology to save our Space Race heritage. LOIRP is retrieving, digitizing and publishing high-resolution pictures of the Moon captured by five NASA space probes ahead of the Apollo 11 moon landings in 1969. These tapes - rescued from destruction by a determined NASA archivist - represent some of the highest-resolution pictures ever taken of the Moon's surface and are a priceless piece of history.

I'd really love to see the talk posted to the Web---was it recorded by the conference organizers? I have friends in archiving circles who would love to know the backstory.

I was at this talk today. It was one of the best talks on any subject I have ever attended.
Please post it. I would love to watch/hear it again. I have told several people about the talk, but I can not do it justice.

Thanks for your kind words
We will get the presentation up tonight and we are working with Apple to get pictures and or video of the talk.
Thanks very much again, it was a lot of fun.

The presentation was so inspiring and emotional. As a 3 year old I was plonked in front of the TV to watch the Apollo landing. And I have had a love of space ever since.
Seeing this at WWDC was a highlight, and at the end during the Q&A when the gentleman stood up to explain how he had a copy of the blueprints of the tape machine, I cried!!!
Thank you!!

I'd also like to ask for the talk -- and also, if it would be possible to access it freely [in the non-proprietary format sense], to avoid the painful restoration in the future.
